1976 TRIUMPH TRIDENT T160
In 1972, the Triumph motor company was desperately attempting to hold on to their failing lead in the motorcycle industry due to the Japanese invasion. The Trident’s arch nemesis was the more modern and out-performing iconic Honda CB750 four cylinder which outsold the Triumph by a huge margin. Even with the addition of the new electric start, the Triumph Trident, as well as the factory itself, were numbered, and 1972 saw the last year production for their three cylinder 750. Luckily, after more than 50 years, some of these old Brit bikes have survived but locating an excellent representative of Trident 750 is a challenge. This beautiful example is no less than an award winning perfect machine with a ton of time and money thrown into its restoration. The complete power train has been fully reworked with the engine receiving a set of new cylinders, pistons, complete new valves and guides, fully rebuilt crank with all new bearings and seals throughout. The chassis has been fully restored including full powder coated frame and swingarm, all new chrome and polished aluminum throughout, all new hardware and a perfect white and metallic yellow paint scheme to match the original livery. This Trident won “Best in Show” at the San Jose British meet when the three cylinder was the featured model and that in itself speaks volumes on how nice this motorcycle is! The bike is reported to be a very good runner and an honest “non oil leaker”. It is selling with a clear title and NO RESERVE!
